Calling all gaming startups. We’d like you to enter the GamesBeat 09 startup competition, dubbed Who’s Got Game?

What’s the criteria for entering? Your company should be interesting, fresh and in the startup phase.

If you’d like to enter, click on this link and fill out the form (no cost). The deadline for applications is Friday March 6 at 3 p.m. PST. Yes, that’s an extension, since we’ll all be busy at the DemoSpring conference before that.

We’ve got nice awards lined up for the winners. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to mingle with the movers and shakers of the game industry. To give you a taste, Jamil Moledina, director of game outreach at EA Partners, will moderate the contest panel at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, just before our evening reception.

If your startup makes it into the final seven, you’ll get a chance to speak on stage for about five minutes during the “Who’s Got Game?” presentation at the conference. Each finalist will get one free ticket to the conference. Considering it costs nothing to apply, that’s a pretty good deal. We’re taking this approach because we want entrepreneurs to attend GamesBeat 09 and liven up the crowd. We hope to notify the finalists of their standing in the competition by March 10.

We’ll tap our advisory board to help screen applicants. Our panel of judges — including myself, Moledina, Eric Goldberg of Crossover Technologies, James Cham of Bessemer Venture Partners, and Kevin Bachus, co-creator of the Xbox — will choose the top company.
